WeDriveU’s Commercial and Operations teams are back from this year’s APTA Mobility Conference and International Bus Roadeo in Austin, TX, where APTA reports a record-setting 2,200 bus and paratransit professionals converged to discuss industry trends, innovations and best practices in bus operations.

Moving Transit Forward

The team shared lots of favorite highlights from the show, including the opening session keynote from Amy Jo Martin, New York Times best-selling author of Renegades Write the Rules. As a founder, CEO, top-ranked podcast host, and influencer with over one million followers, Amy Jo shared powerful insights that resonated with attendees. A standout point was on the power of humanizing brands when she stated, “humans connect with humans, not logos, so we must humanize to monetize.” WeDriveU’s Community and Events Manager, Halle Haley, said, “In an industry with so many opportunities for women leaders, her voice and perspective were especially inspiring to me and my role driving employee engagement and community programs for WeDriveU.”

Molly Tracy, WeDriveU’s Director of Customer Success, highlighted several standout moments from the event. Among them were the dynamic CEO chats, which emphasized the value of courage and vulnerability in leadership, the intentionality behind building strong teams, and viewing the interview process as an art form to gauge a candidate’s openness to innovation. She also pointed to compelling discussions on AV and AI safety, as well as the business case for sustainability.

Transit Roadeo Wins

The conference included the International Bus Roadeo, during which bus operators and maintenance teams connected with peers from transit agencies nationwide, and showcased driving expertise and technical excellence in an exciting competition. Roadeos, which are held at the agency, state and national level, are a highlight of the year for WeDriveU team members across the country and one of many exciting ways the bus drivers and maintenance technicians we can hone their skills and achieve new heights in their career journeys at WeDriveU.

WeDriveU’s Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) maintenance team Roadeo winners Jeffry Dahle, Charles Jones, and Brandon Hartsell each prepared for the competition while sharing a common commitment to operational excellence. This dedication fueled their strong performance. Brandon admitted the competition could be intimidating but found motivation in the shared drive for excellence, saying, “everybody wants to do the best they can do and [you are competing] with the best of the best.”

Expo Spotlights Innovation

APTA once again captured the spirit of innovation, showcasing how transit constantly pushes forward. Our team enjoyed conversations with Expo booth visitors about WeDriveU’s transit services and growth, and shared what we’re learning about breakthroughs in technology and services that enable us to help transit agency customers create cleaner, more accessible cities.

Celebrating Community

WeDriveU was excited to sponsor APTA Mobility’s LGBTQ+ event for the 2nd year in a row, joined in sponsorship by our friends at Spare. It was a privilege for our team to be a part of the event and showcase the spirit of our OPEN (Out and Proud Employee Network) employee resource group at WeDriveU.
