Sponsoring events like Tap Into Transit is an important part of WeDriveU Cares, a nationwide initiative that fosters connections, support and volunteer opportunities between WeDriveU team members and communities they proudly serve.

GM Ashley Fernandez and her GRTC Cares paratransit team engaged with riders and community partners while attendees met local businesses, enjoyed live music and browsed the silent auction.

One of the highlights was the Art Bus, which organizers describe as a bus transformed into a moving mural featuring work by artists Silly Genius, Davi Leventhal, and Chris Visions. Attendees were able to step aboard to enjoy music from local DJ, Hip Hop Henry.

Organizers invited community leaders and advocates to share insights on the vital role transit plays in connecting the region, with Mayor Danny Avula offering remarks on the importance of mobility and public transportation in building a stronger, more connected Richmond region.

WeDriveU partners with GRTC as the operator for CARE (Community Assisted Ride Enterprise) ADA paratransit service. As an “origin-to-destination” service, CARE operates within GRTC’s fixed route coverage area. Learn more about GRTC.

The Transit Access Partnership (TAP) is a regional initiative led by GRTC to ensure long-term support for Open Access Transit in Central Virginia. Tax-deductible donations were gathered by RideFinders, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit affiliated with GRTC, which donates all contributions directly toward supporting open access to public transportation.
