CARTA Bus Driver Honored with Charles Frasier Day

The City of Charleston, SC declared April 8, 2024 as “Charles Frasier Day,” and what a day it was for our bus driver.

WeDriveU’s Shuttle & Transit team supporting the Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA) was there to salute Charles, who was honored with a new CARTA bus shelter named for him and a limo ride to his celebration.

50 Years and 4 Million Miles

Our Area GM David Bonner shared that four of Charles’ eight children and one of 13 grandchildren joined the event that drove lots of local press coverage.

David added, “Mr. Frasier is a kind and caring individual who always operates his bus with professionalism and compassion, and I’ve had the honor of knowing him for over 30 years. When he started driving for us in 1974, there was no power steering, no air conditioning, and no way to communicate back to base — not even a radio. He had to stop the bus and find a pay phone (in a phone booth!) to stay in touch. Since then, he has driven over 4 million miles. Can you imagine?”
