Earth Day Celebrations Promote Sustainable Transportation
Here are highlights from WeDriveU’s Earth Month activities with customers around the U.S., which showcased our commitment to shared, sustainable public and private transportation solutions that are kind to the planet.
Celebrating Sustainable Transportation
We’re proud to make every day Earth Day by offering alternatives to driving alone that reduce traffic congestion and carbon emissions.
Earth Day in the SF Bay Area
Our team in Mountain View, CA set-up at the Mountain View Transit Center to thank and reward riders who hop aboard MVgo, a free public transportation service WeDriveU operates for the City of Mountain View that connects commuters with the Mountain View Transit Center (Caltrain and VTA Light Rail) and locations around the city.
WeDriveU Account Manager Lisa Garcia said, “The best quote from a rider we had today was when we told them we rewarding riders for taking transit and they said, ‘The best reward is having a great transit option available to us!’”
‘The best reward is having a great transit option available to us!’”
MVgo shuttles are provided by the Mountain View Transportation Management Association, an organization dedicated to reducing traffic congestion by providing free or low-cost transportation alternatives that make commuting convenient for employees, residents, and visitors in Mountain View.
WeDriveU also joined Earth Day events at Gilead Sciences’ headquarters in Foster City, CA. Here’s Lisa (pictured right) with the team showcasing information about EV shuttles on the move for Bay Area employees.
Watch Bloomberg’s video playing in the background above showing a day in the life commuting to Gilead’s offices on 100% battery-electric commuter shuttles operated by WeDriveU, and read their post discussing sustainability and how commuter buses tie-in.
Cloud Nine in Florida
WeDriveU’s team was also excited to support the brand new “Cloud” EV bus service for the City of Hallandale Beach, FL, which timed their launch perfectly during Earth Month and generated buzz as the first 100% EV transit program in Florida.
Earth Day Festival in St. Louis
WeDriveU was thrilled to support Washington University in St. Louis’ Earth Day festivities for a second year, by providing an eco-friendly lift for students, faculty, and their family members. General Manager Danae Thiery shared these photos of our team transporting passengers from the campus to the festival at the Muny Grounds in Forest Park in 100% electric shuttle vehicles.
The festival introduced the community to sustainable products and services, showcased non-profit organizations that share Earth Day values, and hosted live entertainment and Green Dining Alliance restaurants.
Thank you to WeDriveU’s WashU drivers for providing service all weekend long, and welcoming this adorable furry festival-goer.
Earth Day in Boston
WeDriveU’s Boston team collaborated with our customers to promote sustainability and shared commuting options for Earth Day again this year. Here’s Operations Supervisor, Luis German, and General Manager, Scott Colburn, at the BVS Earth Day Sustainability Expo in Cambridge/Watertown, Massachusetts.
Our partner, BVS, Inc.’s President and CEO, Pam Gardner, voiced her enthusiasm by sharing how thankful she was for WeDriveU’s contribution to a successful Earth Day event and being a company that contributes to helping make our “Earth, a better place.” She reiterated the expo’s successful results and the overwhelming positive feedback on the value of these events to the industry.
Earth Day in the Carolinas
Our North Charleston, SC-based team of drivers, dispatchers, maintenance techs and managers proudly supported Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA)’s free day of transit service on Earth Day 2024.
Ecofest in Chicago
WeDriveU General Manager, Stacei Allen greeted visitors at the AMA Plaza Ecofest in Chicago, IL. She provided information about our shuttle service at the building and spoke about WeDriveU’s commitment to sustainable transportation.
