WeDriveU-led EV shuttle program enhances community mobility.
The Mountain View Community Shuttle provides free enhanced transportation connections between many residential neighborhoods, senior residences and services, city offices, library, park and recreational facilities, medical offices, shopping centers, and entertainment venues throughout Mountain View.
Started in 2015 as a pilot project sponsored by Google with the City of Mountain View, California and operated by WeDriveU, the program was later extended in 2019 and will continue through 2024.
MVCS’ Impact
The shuttles offer a great deal of flexibility for local residents, encouraging them to “Shop, go to the library, eat out, get to work, watch a movie, visit a local park, see your doctor/dentist, pick up a prescription…do anything you want to do.”
According to an article in the Los Altos Town Crier, the program had served more than 700,000 passengers through 2019.
