Congratulations to WeDriveU bus drivers Jack Feng Yun and Juan Contrerus on their recognition from the Mountain View, California Police Department (MVPD) for contributing to the success of its 2021 “Dreams and Futures” program for underserved youth.

In collaboration with a large tech employer client in the Bay Area, WeDriveU transported 60 – 70 children to MVPD’s award-winning summer camp program each day during the six-week program.

In a letter to WeDriveU, Sergeant Lloyd Curns with the City of Mountain View Police Department said, “…we were able to provide transportation to and from the camp every day along with transportation to eight field trips this summer. Your bus drivers Juan Contrerus and Jack Feng Yun were professional, kind, and went above and beyond our expectations with their high level of service.”

Sergeant Curns added, “WeDriveU Inc.’s contribution serves to reaffirm the partnership that exists between the Mountain View Police Department and the community to address youth-related issues.”

These acts of kindness reflect the passion WeDriveU shares with its shuttle clients for giving back to communities as part of its “Partners Beyond the Bus” program.

About the Program

Developed as a gang prevention program, MVPD’s Dreams & Futures emphasizes teamwork, self-esteem, decision making and standing strong against drugs, alcohol, and gangs. Local schools identify the children to attend, and the program features classes in writing, computer skills in addition to sports camps coached by police and community volunteers, plus field trips to local museums and aquariums. Kids learn about leadership, cooperating with others and conflict resolution. They meet, work, and play with police officers, encouraging a positive view of law enforcement.
